Clemson Extension will conduct a 4-H Shooting Sports Shotgun Instructor Certification workshop at the National Wild Turkey Federation Center in Edgefield, SC, on February 17-18, 2012. An application and tentative agenda is attached. Cost for the 1.5 day workshop is $125 which includes snacks, drinks, lunch on Saturday, ammo, targets, all necessary equipment and curriculum manuals. Lodging is on your own, if needed. If you have been certified in another 4-H discipline in the past 3 years, you do not need to attend the Friday evening general session covering risk management, curriculum, youth development, etc.

This certification is conducted under the Clemson University Extension program. All instructors/volunteers will be required to allow Clemson to do a criminal background check to become a registered 4-H volunteer, which will enable them to be covered under the Clemson University Tort Liability Insurance policy.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the attached application and return to me, preferably by email, by February 10. You can bring payment with you to registration. Full certification is for those over 21 years of age. We also offer Assistant Instructor certification for those 18-20, and Junior Leader certification for those junior leaders age 16-17.

All necessary equipment, to include shotguns will be provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own shotgun and shooting accessories, i.e. shooting vest, pouches, safety glasses, etc.
