Aaron Michael Powell Youth Shooting Memorial Scholarship

Posted on: December 13th, 2011 by admin No Comments

Aaron Michael Powell Youth Shooting Memorial Scholoarship was created by Michael, Bridget, and Alex Powell for the benefit of youth shooters in South Carolina and Georgia to honor the memory of their son and brother who died in a car accident on June 25, 2010 at the age of 15. The Powell’s want to keep his memory alive and help other young men and women achieve their high education goals.

Aaron was an active trap, skeet, and sporting clay shooter and was a member of the Abbeville County, South Carolina 5-H, The Elbert County Claybusters, The Elbery County Gun and Rocky Knoll Sporting Clays Gun Club. Aaron was also active in school and was a member of the National Beta Club and The Vice President of The Dixie High SchooL FFA.

Funds for the shooting scholarships have been raised by the generous people of the shooting community and friends and family of the Powell’s. It’s with great appreciation to those who have helped us raise funds that we now have develeped this shooting scholarship.

We will give four scholarships away for the 212 year. Two scholarships will be given to South Carolina Seniors and two will be give to Georgia Seniors.

This year we are able to give four scholarships away because of the successful 1st Annual Aaron Powell Memorial Shoot that was held in July of 2011. At this shoot we raised a little more than $10,000.00. This was a huge blessing and now we are able to pass that blessing on to others.

The only eligibility requirements for this scholarship is that the applicant must be involved with a shooting sport discipline and will seek higher education after high school graduation.

Applications should be received by April 1, 2012 and will be given to the recepient selected at the respective state youth shoot.
